Tamiya’s 1/24 scale Subaru BRZ (ZD8) is a builder’s dream. This is the second-generation BRZ rendered with the obsessive accuracy Tamiya is known for — from the front fender air outlets and side sill spoilers down to the propeller shafts and mufflers on the undercarriage. Pop the hood and you’ll find a faithfully detailed 2.4-liter horizontally opposed four-cylinder DOHC engine, held open by a stay just like the real thing.
The interior is equally impressive: shift knob, three-pedal manual transmission layout, lever-type side brake, and detailed seats. Metal-plated parts handle the taillight cases and muffler end, while metal transfers bring the side mirrors and rear-view mirror to life. Masking stickers are included to make painting the windows and taillight covers clean and hassle-free.
Differences from its Toyota GR 86 sibling — front bumper, lights, rear stabilizer direction — are all accurately captured.
